Subject: Chase Changing terms of agreement
Comment:
Chase sent me a letter in November to change the terms of my agreement by raising my minimum interest rate. I sent a letter stating that i did not accept the changes, accepting that fact that my account would be closed and I would continue under the terms of my original agreement.
My account was closed, but a month later Chase sent me another notice of change to the terms of my agreement - again to raise my interest rate.
I did not reply to this letter - assuming this was a duplicate letter and/or believing Chase would not send out term change notices to closed accounts.
I called Chase to dispute and was told that since it's past the change notice deadline, '...it was not bank policy to change back to the original terms...'. I flipped out. I told them i would no longer use Chase in the future and would let everyone I know about their business practices.
If you plan on closing your account and/or not accepting changes to the terms of your agreement, be prepared to incur the postage costs and of repeatedly having to send 'non-acceptance' letters to Chase.
I find it disgusting that not only do I have to bear the burden of bailing them out as a taxpayer, but now they're taking it to their customer's (one that was in good standing - paid on time, use/have multiple services with Chase).
