Subject: Chase Credit Card Increasing Monthly Min 2% to 5%
Comment:
I have been a credit card customer for Chase for several years (over 10) and just last week got a notice that they were raising min payment from 2% to 5%. I have only missed 1 payment in last ten years and that was a mistake on Chase's side of the house. I have a rather large balance on my card (approx 12K) due to some emergency funds that I needed a few months ago. I budget out my entire month and live frugile in this economy. My minimum was ~ $241.00, now Chase is asking me to pay $602.00 per month. Wow, that can sure blow a budget. When I called and talked to a representative (who I had to ask his name 4 times to understand), he said the reasoning was due to the market. That's all he said, The market. I didn't argue, but asked for more details and he kept repeating, "The Market is causing this". What an outrage. Just the month before, Chase gave card holders a bye month (not really bye since interest is accruing) to let members a little relief, then they hit us with a 2.5 times card payment. This is crazy and unethical. I can see penalizing the card members who are late, but how can Americans put up with this reasoning. I would advise every card holder to read every single word of Chase's notice in the mail and you would be shocked what you find in there.

I plan on paying off Chase next few months and will NEVER hold a credit card with them again.
